General Gatot is nominated as Chairman of MES

The name of TNI Commander Gatot Nurmantyo was mentioned in the 4th National Congress of the Sharia Economic Community (MES) at Bank BTN Tower Building, Central Jakarta, Thursday (30/11).

In the National Assembly, Gatot was nominated as Chairman of MES. Leadership and closeness with the scholars and Muslims became the initial consideration of the name Gatot.

Hopefully, the proximity is transformed into a more tangible movement in supporting and developing sharia economy in Indonesia.

Deputy Secretary General of MES, Iggi H. Achsien, said that previously established the National Committee on Sharia Economics (KNKS) led by President Jokowi.

According to him, if the MES is then chaired by the Commander, it is expected that more real government support for sharia economy.

"Hopefully it can be a new stream of Indonesian economy that is more prosperous and fair," he said on the sidelines of the National Conference.

Due to the expiration of Ketum Dr. Mulyaman Hadad's leadership, the 4th National Assembly decided to choose a form of nine people to select the new MES Ketum.

Support to Gatot came from both the Central Executive and the Regional Board.

A total of 217 people from Central and Regional Executive Officers from all over Indonesia and Foreign Representative Officers, including 4 Special Overseas Envoys (UK) attended the nomination of Gatot as Chairman of MES.

As for the nine chosen format menrur team, Syahrial Abbas as the representative of the board of the western part of Indonesia, Muhammad Hudaya as the representative of central Indonesia.

Sulaiman Wasahua as the representative of eastern Indonesia. Yodi Izharivan as overseas management representative. KH. Ma'ruf Amin as the representative of the PP-Demisiers council.

Sugiharto as the representative of PP-Demisioner's expert board. Muliaman D Hadad as the former Chairman, Firdaus Djaelani as Steering committe of the 4th National Assembly of MES, Muhammad Syakir Sula as Steering committe of the 4th Munas of MES.
