The Military Commander Denies Attack ISIS Home Base Issue

MFCNews.Com | TNI Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo as TNI Commander accompanied The Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi attended trilateral meeting event with Philippines and Malaysia in Conrad Hotel, Manila, Philippines. Thursday (22/6).

The meeting discussed about situation after terrorist attack in Marawi and agreed on effort to cope with terrorism in ASEAN, the meeting was also attended by Police Gen. Tito Karnavian and the Commision Gen. Suhardi Alius as the head of BNPT, Alan Peter Schramm Cayetano as Philippines Foreign Minister and Dato Sri Anifah Aman as Malaysia Foreign Minister.

"In the meeting, Philippines delivered the current situation in Marawi after terrorist attack, then each nation shared about the condition of their country. Threats from the radicalism and terrorism groups and the most important thing that how can Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia develop trilateral cooperation," Retno said after Trilateral Meeting to the journalist.

Further, Retno said the cooperation written in the joint statement that covered some fields. The cooperation will explain in the plan of action which will discuss in the Senior Official Meeting (SOM).

"SOM will convene in Indonesia and will decide as soon as possible. After that will be Ministers Meeting in October and Indonesia willl be the  host," he explained.

At the same time, The TNI Commander said that SOP of the Police Patrol Sea among Indonesia-Philippines-Malaysia that signed in Tarakan (19/6) could be the strong foundation in order to cope with terrorism in the border of the three countries.

"I have been communicated wtih Philippines and Malaysia Commanderin Chief of the Armed Forces related to intelligence service forum that will be held each month, the point is always keep up to date the intelligence information exchange, especially about terrorism in Marawi. And it will continue with training trilateral of three armed and special forces, so we have the fast perspective," TNI Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo said.

While, answered the jounalist question in Manado related the TNI's plan to attack ISIS home base, TNI Gen. opposed firmly.

"No, there is no attack on ISIS home base. The police wtih TNI hava already strengthen the Island from Marawi to Bitung, Morotai and Tarakan, the Air and Sea Forces will patrol together wtih Police. This is what we have done," he explained.
